I use an integrative theoretical approach that takes into account the complex interplay of contexts such as family of origin, cultural background, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation and religion as well as socio-economics, all of which shape our experience in the world.

I help clients negotiate parts of the self that may have become fragmented as a result of trauma and oppression, so that they can begin to experience their lives as meaningful, fulfilling and whole.

As an immigrant myself, I am highly competent in issues related to assimilation and acculturation and am attuned to the sense of loss and resistance to change that often accompanies such transitions. I am bilingual in Bulgarian and familiar with issues specific to the Eastern European, Armenian and Russian communities.
